How do we make our historic city more resilient?

Participate in several current initiatives to learn more and provide input.

The Baltimore Office of Sustainability and Office of Emergency Management are kicking off the 2023 Disaster Preparedness and Planning Project (DP3) update process and they need your voice! There are many ways to get involved in this important plan that seeks to reduce hazard risk and increase preparedness and resilience in Baltimore. They would love it if you could:

  • Take the Public Survey (as a member of the general public)
  • Take the Stakeholder Survey (if you also represent a business, non-profit, community organization, city agency, or institution)
  • Fill out the Problem Areas Form to share where you’ve experienced hazard events in your community
  • RSVP for the Sustainability Open House (Wednesday, June 21st from 4:30-7:30 at Morgan State) and engage with the planning team in-person

The DP3 is Baltimore’s Hazard Mitigation Plan, which identifies natural and other hazards that impact the city’s infrastructure and residents and highlights key strategies to work toward a more resilient and prepared city. Hazards such as heavy rain, flooding, extreme heat, sea level rise, power outages, extreme cold, and extreme wind are regular occurrences in Baltimore and are being exacerbated due to climate change. We know that communities in Baltimore face these types of disruptive events each and every year and recognize that the negative impacts are often felt disproportionately.  We would love to learn more from you and your communities throughout this process and would sincerely value your participation in the surveys. Your contribution to this planning process will enable us to create a safer, more livable Baltimore. Thank you!
